NEW YORK, NY – National public safety experts and first responders today applauded President Obama’s decision to raise the alarm last month over the dangerous H1N1 influenza pandemic in his declaration of a national emergency last week, but suggested vaccines alone will not stop H1N1. They urge for a more comprehensive approach in order to defeat the deadly virus.
May 15, 2009: MONOC Adopts Zimek's Rapid Decontamination Technology For EMS Vehicles
MONOC Hospital Service Corporation, in an effort to further assure the health and safety of its New Jersey client base, has made the choice to begin utilizing Zimek’s Micro-Mist decontamination technology in its first responder vehicles. MONOC is the first New Jersey based EMS provider to recognize the necessity of rapid three-dimensional decontamination in pandemic preparedness, and implement it in a proactive effort to assure that its EMS vehicles can remain operational during an influenza pandemic.

May 8, 2009: Zimek to Assist in Pandemic Response in Mexico
At the request of Mexico's health authorities, Zimek, through its distributor, Vortech Systems, has mobilized multiple Zimek Decontamination Systems to Mexico in order to help combat the emerging Swine Flu pandemic.

May 1, 2009: Orlando Transportation Authority Deploys Zimek Systems For Rapid Bus Decontamination and Pandemic Preparedness
The Orlando Regional Transportation Authority (Lynx) has arranged to immediately implement the use of Zimek’s rapid decontamination technologies, and has thereby established itself on the cutting-edge of public transportation safety. Lynx follows in the footsteps of such notable customers as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Disney Environmental Services.

April 24, 2009: Disney World’s EMS Vehicles Install Zimek’s New Rapid Decontamination Port
Disney Environmental Services has instituted the use of Zimek’s Decontamination Systems to enable
rapid response decontamination in cases of emergency pathogenic outbreaks, thus firmly establishing its dedication to the health and safety of its customers and employees. To facilitate the use of Zimek’s Micro-Mist™ treatments in critical care applications, Disney World’s Reedy Creek Fire Department installed Zimek’s new Rapid Decontamination Ports in their EMS vehicles and fire rescue units. April 21, 2009: Numerous Federal Grants Awarded to Support Municipal Purchases of Zimek’s Decontamination Systems in the United States
The Sudbury Massachusetts Fire Department is the first in the United States to receive a Federal grant to purchase a state-of-the-art Zimek Decontamination System, to add to its inventory of emergency planning tools.
Chief Kenneth MacLean applied for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG), a program of FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), in 2008 and was awarded a Zimek Decontamination System. Fire departments throughout the U.S and a number of private ambulance companies have budgeted for the purchase of Zimek’s Decontamination Systems, but Sudbury is the first to receive an AFG grant for its purchase.
Chief Kenneth MacLean said "The Zimek unit would be crucial in a pandemic where the ambulance would be used to transport a great number of patients who were gravely ill. The vehicle could be decontaminated quickly and thoroughly between runs."

January 30, 2009: Zimek's Rapid Decontamination Port Unveiled at the Fire Rescue East Convention
Zimek's new Rapid Decontamination Port ("RDP") was unveiled to the public at the 2009 Fire Rescue East Convention in Daytona Beach, Florida, which was sponsored by the Florida Fire Chiefs Association.
The RDP was installed as an original equipment component in the Medic 24 fire rescue vehicle manufactured by Medtec Ambulance Company of Bradenton Florida. The Medic 24 was delivered to the Fire Department of Winter Garden, Florida in December 2008.
The RDP was designed in response to an infection control initiative instituted by Winter Garden's Deputy Fire Chief Matt McGrew. Zimek's RDP can be installed by the original equipment manufacturer or through an after-market retrofit kit.
