October 17 , 2007: Zimek is proud to report a testimonial from the Maintenance Director of Kankakee County Sheriff's Department in Kankakee, Illinois:

"In July of 2007 the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department purchased a [Zimek Decontamination System] and began using the system in our jail inmate areas. The system can be set-up and operated by anyone with minimal training. The system has met all of our expectations and works as advertised. On September 27th while moving the system to another facility the touch screen and human interface module was damaged and had to be replaced. I called David Sparks on September 28th and he put in motion the ordering and shipment of the replacement module to our facility and set a date of October 12th for a service call to install the replacement unit. I called David back on Wednesday October 3rd and informed him that the Chief of Correction had set-up a meeting with Cook County Jail of Chicago to demonstrate the systems operation on the same day he had scheduled his service call. David adjusted his schedule and came in of Tuesday October 9th at 7:00 pm and replaced the touch screen and module, so we could do our demonstration as scheduled. I would like to thank David and The Zimek Company for the extra effort and professionalism on this issue. I would strongly recommend working with the Zimek Company to anyone who is interested purchasing a [Room and Vehicle Decontamination System] for their facility."

September 6, 2007: Today Zimek performed a Dri-Mist® treatment on a “Land Yacht” in Miami, Florida using one of its yacht [decontaminating] machines.

Luxury buses, often referred to as “Land Yachts,” suffer from the same infectious pathogens that contaminate all aircraft and marine vessels. Roy Beckett, Zimek’s Chairman, commented that, “Zimek’s [decontaminating] machines will be unequaled in [disinfecting] the indoor air and disinfecting surface areas in all passenger buses and should be utilized by all private and public transportation companies to enhance the health and safety of their passengers.

Public transportation environments are responsible for countless health problems, particularly causing infections from surface contaminants like MRSA and Hepatitis C. In the first quarter of 2008, we expect to complete the establishment of Zimek’s Public Transportation [Decontamination] Systems Division, which will be dedicated to selling our products to all public transportation agencies, including school districts.”

September 3, 2007: Zimek announced the commencement of its Yacht Decontamination Systems Division today by applying a Dri-Mist® treatment in a 102 foot luxury yacht in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Luxury yachts and all marine vessels, including cruise ships, suffer contamination by infectious pathogens including MRSA, the Norwalk virus, toxic mold and insect pests. Zimek’s Chairman, Roy Beckett, supervised the treatment of the yacht which utilized Zimek’s D&I Plus disinfectant as part of the Dri-Mist® application generated by Zimek’s yacht decontaminatiing machine. Roy has recently been involved in negotiations with a large marine repair and paint contracting firm which is expected to represent Zimek worldwide in the sale of its Yacht Decontamination Systems.
Roy commented that, “As is the case with all aircraft, luxury yachts and all marine vessels are virtual cesspools of infectious diseases. Until Zimek, there was no reliable means of [disinfecting] the interior air and disinfecting interior surfaces of marine vessels to insure that they are healthy environments for crew and passengers alike. Now the time has come. And Zimek is the answer.”

July 1, 2007: The July issue of the Firehouse Magazine featured an important article, Is Your Firehouse Making You Sick?, written by Jason Schneider, Vice President of Zimek’s Public Safety Division.

Jason is also a firefighter/paramedic and hazardous materials technician with Broward County, Florida’s Fire and Rescue Department. In the article, Jason explained why “sick firehouses” are becoming moreprevalent. “As firehouses age, they are more likely to become cesspools of contagious and infectious diseases,” according to Jason. “Because [firefighters and paramedics] are exposed to patients on a daily basis who call 911 for assistance, they are on the front lines of dealing with the risks associated with exposure to influenza, and more recently, serious and life-threatening infectious contaminants like Hepatitis C, MRSA, and Tuberculosis.”
Jason also raised concerns about the cross-contamination that occurs when fire professionals unknowingly transmit dangerous viruses and bacteria to their bunk rooms after running calls, and to their homes and loved ones when they return home at the end of a shift. “We must focus our efforts to cure sick firehouses and insure that we are not responsible for contaminating our family and friends with infectious pathogens currently plaguing all areas of a firefighter’s work environment,” concluded Jason.
